Nancy Pelosi came out and said in public, on Larry King, that Bush's thinking on Iraq is impaired. This is something we have known for quite some time, but it's nice to have the Speaker say so too.
This story on CNN recounts her comments on Larry King Live.
More below..
She was polite, but let it be known she is critical of Bush's thought process.
I think his judgment is a little impaired on this war, with all due respect to the president and his good intentions," she told King...."What I don't think is that it is a political decision on the part of the president. This is what he firmly believes."
And she also gently told Bush he has lost his base..well, most of it.
"I just would hope that whatever he thinks about the war that he would also value the fact that the American people have lost confidence in him."
She also let Cheney have it point blank regarding his remarks about the troops and the Congress.
Pelosi also blasted a comment made last week by Vice President Dick Cheney that legislative moves by Pelosi and other House Democrats to oppose Bush's war policy would "validate" al Qaeda's strategy.
"What the vice president said is beneath the dignity of his office and beneath the dignity of the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform," Pelosi said.
"The vice president is in a place that is out of touch with the American people, out of touch with what so many generals are saying and out of touch with even a bipartisan majority in the Congress."
She also mentioned that she had called Bush to let him know that the patriotism of the Congress had been attacked, since Bush had asked her to let him know if anyone attacked someone's patriotism or tried to undermine national security. So when Cheney did, she called Bush. That must have been an interesting conversation.. :D
